Were very excited to announce the return of our men’s retreat for 2010. We have limited space for this retreat, so early registration is going to be important if you want to join us for this memorable weekend.
In some of our past retreats we’ve had to make a facility choice of either comfortable lodging or a facility with lots of activities for guys. But this year we are please to announce our new arrangements with a Oakbridge camp in the Romona Foothills. Oakbridge is a “Young Life” Camp and offers comfortable clean sleeping arrangements, a great chapel and quality dining experience. An added bonus is a high ropes course, swimming pool with high dive, Frisbee golf, full court basketball, tennis courts, beach volleyball and a skate park. Check out the camp here at www.oakbridgecamp.org.
This year we’ll have a teaching team of Scott Treadway, Sabo Cortez and Steve Salomon. This is the first time we’ve had all of our teaching pastors bring the weekend messages and we look forward to an amazing time of worship and to be challenged as men.
The Becoming Girls conference is a conference for girls and their mothers in 6th through 12th grade. We want to convey to these girls by our messages and our worship that there is a God, a Savior that loves them, cherishes them and treasures them. We want to meet them where they are, in whatever good or bad circumstance they are facing.
Register NowIs is our desire to bring a frank, yet delicate, honest, genuine, gospel centered message that is applicable to everyday life, in order to encourage girls (and women) to find their purpose in life.
Is is our desire to remove the blinder of culture, popularity, image, hurts and fear in order to encourage healing, empower and revive girls with the truth of Scripture and the Holy Spirit.
It is our desire to encourage girls to then become agents of healing in our lost and dying world so that we might together become a generation renewed.
In all of the general sessions the content will be age appropriate. There is a session of workshops where each age group will join their own peers to discuss further about what they are facing as a peer group. The topics that may be discussed are dating and relationships, friendships and peer pressure, substance experimenting, abuse, sex and purity, God and His desire for His daughters, and what it means to live this life as a Christian.
On Saturday, August 28th from 8am-5pm there will be a fundraiser to benefit the adoption of a Philippine orphan, Mary Jane, by members of Rancho, Mike and Karen Gill. Bring your garage sale items to the West Parking Lot to be donated to the Salvation Army. If we can fill a large trailor with donations, the Salvation Army will write a check to International Christian Adoptions to help fund the adoption of Mary Jane. If you have questions please contact Cherie at International Christian Adoptions at 951-695-3336 or cfriend@4achild.org.
